I have the same problem.
I tried to make 2Gpixel picture using Microsoft ICE (by stitching ~ 500 images in grid topology, I have robotic head GigaPan).
It succeed in solution and saving. I choose TIFF in 100% size.
It produces 8.6GB TIFF file (it is ~standard for Gigapixel pictures, no surprice :D), but I cannot open this file.
I tried to use various 'standard' tools for Gigapixel pictures (XnView, ImageMagic, IrfanView, GIMP, ...) but file is not readable.
Even File properties are strange, it does not contain any information about resolution. Real resolution for this picture is 98481x22367 (it was reported by ICE during saving procedure).
I use 64-bit version of ICE and I run Windows Vista 64-bit with 8GB memory... It is not HW or OS problem. It has to be some problem in ICE... :(
 Please help,
 Jan Burianek [BURSOFT(c)] Czech Republic

P.S. It is sad because I love ICE. It is so fast and results are so nice. Please please please MS experts/developers solve this problem for Gigapixel community...

it to a cubic jpg? Or more, to 6 cubic faces?

Thanks a lot
I tried it at the ICE, but it shows this:Direct 3D NOT AVAILABLE

What to do when the overlap is small?

Hello.
I started some experiments with the ICE and it seems providing quite impressive results when the image overlap is quite large (20-30%) and enough unique features. I tested it with up to 60 images up to now and it works pretty well.
I have problems with the images when the overlap is about 10% and/or when the images have repetitive pattern like grid or almost no pattern at all.
Is it possible to help somehow the ICE with the stitching in the case it rejects some files and reports errors? The Photoshop has something like that for the Photomerge for example. It is possible to enter the expected position(s) manually in such situations.
Thank you for your support,
Pavel

Simply, I want to use ICE from the command line.

As far as i understand, “ICE.exe img1 img2 img3 img4” creates an ICE project and stitches the images and display the output in the program UI too. Then I have to save the whole project, and open it as XML.

Is there a way to create the spj file, or even the output image, without havung to deal with the GUI?

Thank you,

Mahmoud

Control Points and Horizons

Hi, This tool looks very good however I still have difficulty telling the stitch to get the horizon right when creating a panorama!!

All it really needs a to show me the photos and ask me to draw a horizon on each (or evan set up two control points at each side of each photo)

This would avoid me getting a wavy horizon (btw I have tried all different modes of stitch and auto)..

Might also be nice to allow me to draw verticals I want maintained as vertical on each photo too,

I mean we could just do a general bit like please draw hgorizonals and verticals you want presevered.

Maybe if that is too much, do you think you could consider Hint points being added to photos to help your engine when it stiches?

Thanks
