I've just got around to trying the latest fix and it doesn't work for me. The proxymatron fix (or rather, workaround) did work, but that's not something I could apply across an entire school. I would dearly love to use this in class.

Thanks for that link Chuck. The workaround works for me. I recommend everyone give it a go.

Bump bump. Come on Redmond Research/Microsoft Research: this proxy issue really needs a solution and its been nearly a fortnight now. I work in a school and we're dieing to use the software but can't. I've promised this great new experience, based on using it at home, and have to keep making excuses. I would imagine practically every school in the world requires kids to log on before accessing the internet, so its hardly an unusual problem.

I have the same issue as a lot of other osters, that is I need to enter a user name and password at the start of each session on IE or Firefox, and WWT doesn't ask. As a comparison, I just downloaded and installed Google Earth. It seemd to take the proxy info from somewhere, and when it first starts it asks for my user name and password just like any other internet session. This didn't require any configuation, and in fact in the settings I can't even find the configuriaton/connection
