Some ATI cards don't seem to support multiple textures, which makes crossfading in WWT not work.

But here we're talking about no images appearing at all in sky mode.

Some questions:

- What do you see when you choose SolarSystem mode? Can you see any planets there?

- Does WWT say it cannot reach the internet when you launch it even though Internet Explorer can happily go online? In that case, you can try typing 'itgproxy' in the Proxy Server box under Network and Cache in Settings.

Re: Images won't render at all

Um.... You do know that it works if you run it in a window and make it a bit smaller than full-screen, don't you?

Or
doesn't that work for everyone? I don't remember what the exact
threshold dimensions are, just that it's a little smaller than

worked, and it worked for me the last time I tried it.

As a matter of fact, I see someone mentioned it in the very last message just before this latest round of complaints.

No,
I'm not defending Microsoft's inability to work around this bug
(assuming it's an ATI bug), but I also hate to see people complaining
about something when a workaround has been documented.

Re: Images won't render at all

I agree that Microsoft Or ATI Or BOTH need to look into this problem ASAP.

[rant]

Sure the program is free and really neat.

But it dosnt give either companys a good rep not fixing this problem in the fall release or even admitting there is an issue at hand.(ati being not much better as they release new video card drivers every month!!!)

I have had WWT installed on my main PC for a few months now, thinking it would be fixed eventuly... but i guess its time to uninstall because im tired of seeing the Icon on my desktop or in program files - tired of being reminded that my computer which is pretty much as high end as you can get is not capible of rendering a few streaming high rez images.. (pats main computer on the back: "its ok girl, not your fault")

Meh - works on my laptop so i can always use it there.

Just dont see myself using the program as often that way.. cant see myself booting up the laptop just to run WWT - i would have to be really bored to do that instead of the countless other things that my main computer is capible of.

gg Google Sky 4 the win - not in quality of product.. but at least in compatibility!

I thought the problem was because i have a 4870x2 which uses crossfire tech - but seems there is alot of other Ati users with the same or simular issues.

My video card is capible of decoding Blueray or HD-DVD Codecs with hardware alone and yet it cant even render a few high rez streaming Images.

[/rant]

Re: Images won't render at all

Yes! I quickly downloaded it to my laptop where I have occasionally been playing with WWT, then immediately thought. "They had to have fixed the ATI 92xx issue - like ten zillion people had the same problem. I need to download this to my P4 sitting behind my LCD TV," The excitement was overwhelming. My wait was over, because a new video card in an older but quick machine is not only a waste of money, but usually prompts to just get a new machine,

Download, and installation SUCCESSFUL.......here we go.........

Well, much to my dismay, with everything up to date, I still get a working program that shows mw only the constellation lines.
