copying and pasting .wtt files

I created a slide tour and saved it to my desk top. I would like to incorporate this tour into another slide show I am creating using a separate slide show / movie making software.

My problem is I cannot copy and paste my saved tour (as a .wtt file) from my desk top into my separate slide show software.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Tours won't run

Hi, I'm using Vista 32-bit, 2GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeoForce 6800 with the latest video drivers (downloaded today). When I try and run a tour using the web client I get a black screen with some red yellow and green lines on it and then a progress bar. Various messages appear in the status bar like: "Transferring data from ecn1.tiles.virtualearth.net..." Eventually this message changes to Done, but the progress though full keeps saying Please Wait. And nothing happens. I've changed the proxy settings as suggested elsewhere (though I don't use a proxy as far as I know) and I've got nothing else funny running. I'm using the latest version of Firefox.

Help me Obi etc..

Updated Fermi all-sky map

I was wondering when the sky map of Fermi imagery will be updated with the latest version. I work for the Fermi space telescope education and public outreach group and we are preparing a WWT tour to go along with a Fermi related press conference towards the end of October. It would be nice to have the latest Fermi sky map on WWT.

Hole in the north & south poles

Can anyone tell me why there is a hole in Antarctica? If you view the Earth from directly over the Antarctica, you can see through the north pole region into space. Jupiter does not have a hole in it, nor do the other planets. Is this a bug?

Only the top-half of the screen is showing. The program displays a blue field in the bottom half of the field's display. Is there any way to fix it? This began about a month ago, I've removed and reloaded the program, but it's still a problem.

blocky rendering with ATI graphics card

My wife has an nvidea card in her machine and WWT works great. However, I'm getting the following rendering effects with my ATI Radeon M200. I'm wondering what might be causing it.

On my images of the sky (these are all right) I can see the white text fields, but there ist no text appearing (just the white fields).

How to proceed to get the respective text into the text fields?

X-Box 360 Support

When I open WWT on my computer everthing works as advertised. The opening screen says "Navigate with an X-box 360 Controller by connecting it before launching".

I've tried this, and it doesn't work. Does WWT have a streaming capability to the X-box? (I have no trouble streaming video, audio, photos, etc.

Can someone advise me on what to do to get X-box to work?

Images won't render at all

I select an image to view, wait for it to download fully, but I get... nothing, just a black screen.
Even the tours don't work.

Strange audio issues in tours

I checked these forums but haven't seen anyone with similar issues. I have been really enjoying the tours but I keep getting random problems on tours where the audio seems to only play from my subwoofer (in a 5.1 system). I dont think its the onboard sound - no other issues in any other programs other than WWT. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this would be helpful, If i can find one, ill try adding a different soundcard in to see if that solves it.

Any help is appreciated!

Edit: Looks like I forgot to include some pertinent information on this post - I am using Windows Vista x64 with the latest release build of WWT - soundcard is onboard sound for an DFI Lanparty UT NF590. CPU is a dualcore amd 6400 x2, vid card is dual BFG 8800GT's in SLi, Windows experience meter is at 5.5

if i choose viewing from bogota, colombia and set it to today at any time 2009/02/23 for example arrount 11:00 am. earth is displayed as beeing very close to the sun.

Guided Tours

I installed WWT and all the available Guided Tours on my PC. I have already installed WWT on other PCs and would like to have the Guided Tours on those PCs also, but I don't want to individually download them onto each PC, too time consuming. Can I copy the files for the Gouded Tours from the PC where they're installed onto the others. If so, which files?

i'm using equinox beta, with earth feature, there is only cloud layer can be seen while the earth is not there..just black sky

in sky feature, only the planets in solar system are visible but there is not even a single star or galaxy but only the red line like some others that posting their problems here

only in solar system thing seems to only works,with star,the milky way, and of course the awesom 3d planet.

i can download the tour file, so i assume it is not about internet connection, but still there is just the black screen with voices.

i'm using vista,processor intel core 2 duo, there is no graphic card since it is just a cheap laptop and 1 GB rem. Is the problem came from my laptop?

is there somebody who can help me with the detail here?? my google earth does not working, and when i think wwt can give me a new solution to the thing i love the most, same problem seems to happen... haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahuuuuuuuuuu

Images appear torn and rectangles all over the sky

I've got an AMD Athlon 64 processor 3000+ , ATI RADEON Xpress 200 series integrated chipset with 64MB VRAM

2 GBRAM , 1.8 GHz processor speed.

WWT seems to have a problem in rendering very distant objects. When i zoom in on distant Nebulae or Galaxies i get an image partially torn ( black patches and holes ) ...and in the normal sky......there are rectangular boxes of red and blue colours.....is there anything i can do to avoid these.....or do i hav to change my graphics card completely

Just a quick down on my findings from running WWT on W7 Beta.

The in box Radeon graphics drivers (at least with the 3870) seem to cause flickering with moving around with images overlayed, this can be fixed by using the newer drivers on ATI's website.

However with an Intel 950GMA, both the in box drivers, and the updated ones that showed up on Windows Update suffer from flickering, this seems to be across the whole system when running 3D, not just WWT however.

Can't set the Windows Desktop Background image.

First off thanks for the amazing program I just love data diving in WWT on cloudy nights what a great research tool!

My little problem comes from the inability to set the Windows Desktop background image from WWT. This had previously worked but suddenly does not. All I get is a blank screen in Vista. ( I'm running Vista Home Premium SP2 for 64-Bit machines. ) What happens for me is that WWT goes into full screen mode to take the screenshot but then nothing actually shows up as the desktop image after the operation.

Oddly enough if I go to personalize I can get the directory that contains the wallpaper.bmp WWT tried to create. Which I can then get to open in paint but windows photo preview thinks the image is corrupt and of course it doesn't show up as my desktop background.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Images flicker then disapear (ATi) 09/19/08

Hello,

Im having trouble with WWT. When i run the program, the telescope images display then disapear very shortly after. The only way i can view them momentarily is by zooming in and then out which repeats the same flicker/missing images.

My rigg is as follows:

Antec Truepower 1000W Quattro

Asus Maximus Extreme (X38 chipset)

Q9950 @ stock ( 2.83 Ghz)

Sapphire 4870X2 @ stock

OCZ 4 GB DDR3 running in Dual channle configuration @ stock (533Mhz)

Windows XP Pro 64bit SP2 /w updates

.net2.0 sp1 installed

Latest DX9c

Catalyst 8.9 Drivers

WWT 2.1.8.1

No other programs running in the backround.

This never happend on my Laptop which uses a low grade integrated GMA950 video adaptor so perhaps that is my fix.. but id much rather use my gaming computer.

I had been waiting for ATi to release their new drivers (8.9), and so i was excited to see if they had fixed this problem, but it seems they did not.

I even submitted the problem to the catalyst feed back program while i was using 8.8.

I really would love to use my main PC for WWT.. is there any info regarding a fix, or an acknowledged bug for wwt flickering with ati products?

Graphic Distortions (Images not Fully Loading?)

Hello,

I am seeing a graphics problem on my laptop when viewing planets in sky mode.

In other words, if I select "Sky" under "Look At" (towards the bottom left corner) certain areas of the planets are missing parts of their images. But if I switch and select "Planet" under "Look At", the planets there will look fine.

This seems different from the other image rendering problems I see reported in other posts.

So you can better understand, here's a side-by-side comparison of Jupiter:

And Saturn looks even worse:

Moving doesn't change the distortion at all, but it does change when I zoom in and out.

And yes, this does happen with other images as well:

As you can see by that image, the distortion is more of a see-through effect than a block-out. Parts of the images just don't seem to load.

This is, however, strictly an issue with my laptop. On my desktop - which is using similar video hardware - this does not happen.

The system with the problem has a 1.8 GHz Mobile AMD Sempron 2800+ processor, 1 Gig of RAM, and an ATI Mobility Radeon XPress 200M adapter (which does support 3D acceleration) with 128 Meg RAM running at 1024x768.

Platform is a two week old (i.e., still clean) XP SP2 installation upgraded to SP3 last week. DirectX 9.0c is (obviously) installed and I have also applied the March 2008 DirectX End-User Runtime Redist package. DXDIAG shows no problems, the graphics tests look fine, and other DX programs look normal. .NET 2.0 SP1 and 3.0 SP1 are also installed.

I have the latest video drivers installed, which in this case is the ATI Catalyst 8.4 package from April 16, 2008. I am fairly certain this is not a video driver issue, however, since my desktop system is also using the Catalyst 8.4 drivers with an ATI Radeon 9600 adapter and I don't see this problem on it.

I have tried switching WWT to windowed mode and it doesn't make any difference.

Any ideas what might be causing this and/or is there anything I can try to fix it?

WWT Can't render the right click information pane / reticle at 120 dpi.

Hello again!

Thanks once again for such a great tool! WWT is a fun and easy tool to use to view astronomical photos and data!

My problem comes from using my pc at a high resolution and DPI. 1080P HD resolution at 120DPI. (Large Vista fonts)

When I run at higher DPI the right click information window and it's controls and text as well as the splash screen, layout on the screen as if they think the controls and text are still the standard desktop resolution. This looks very broken to the end user and makes it hard if not impossible to use at the higher 120DPI res with larger font size. Fixing this would make this program more accessable and usable in classroom situations where frequently larger fonts and higher resolutions are employed.

SIMBAD Links Don't Work ?

When I select an object with the finder scope, and choose "Research -> Information -> Look up on SIMBAD", the web window opens up but I get this message from SIMBAD: "(22-Nov-2008) You are trying to access an obsolete SIMBAD database release which is now definitely stopped. The SIMBAD3 database has now been definitively stopped. You will have to use the SIMBAD4 server, which is daily updated and maintained. You arrive on this page because you are still using an url calling simbad3: http://simbad3.u-strasbg.fr/XXX.pl?... XXX can be sim-id, sim-list, simbo or sim-sam You will have to fix your urls or ask your software provider to replace them with SIMBAD4 urls. All details can be found on this page. Tour won't play images from My Collections

Hi:

This is further to my last post. I hope I can get an answer to this question soon, since I have a series of public events coming up at which I would love to use WWT, if I can resolve the following problem with tours!

I used the astrometry group on flickr to "solve" some personal astronomical images, which I've successfully uploaded to My Collections, but I cannot find instructions on how to include these images in my own tour.

Here's what I've tried. I first set the start camera position at some point in the sky. I then click on an image in My Collections, and WWT pans over to that part of the sky, where my image is correctly placed. Then I set the end camera position. When I play back that slide, the correct pan occurs, but the end camera position shows the image from the Digitized Sky Survey at that location, instead of the image from my collection. I have also tried setting the image as the foreground image. This works when I create the slideshow, but when I reopen the tour later on, the image does not always appear.
