Is there a mailing list or listserv to be notified when these types of program open. I have been checking your website every two weeks or so, and just saw that this program opened on 10/2 - so I have missed 20 days of valuable time. Please advise. Thanks.

Unable to sign in to SearchTogether

Hi,

I would like to try out SearchTogether. I've installed it, but I can't sign in. My first attempt resulted in an immediate error message, with no log-in prompt. I saw in the tutorial that I had to install an additional library if this happened. I did that, and now I get a Window Live ID login prompt. When I enter my Window Live ID and password, I get a pop-up error message saying: "Unable to sign in. Please ensure that your user name and password are correct...". I'm sure my Live ID credentials are correct. I've entered them carefully and repeatedly, and I've verifed on home.live.com that they work.

Btw the error message pops up immediately, there does not seem to be round-trip to a server.

SearchTogether sign-in is temporarily unavailable

Due to a recent deprecation of the APIs that SearchTogether uses to retrieve Live Messenger contact lists, SearchTogether's sign-in service is experiencing errors. We are working on correcting this issue.

User not recognized as session member; icon remains gray after joining session

I’m having an intermittent problem in which a user who joins a search session isn’t recognized as a member of the session. Here’s the scenario:

1) User1 creates a search session and invites User2. On User1's Contacts pane, User1's icon is green and User2's icon is gray.

2) User 2 joins the session. On User2's Contacts pane, User1 and User2's icons are both green. But on User1's Contacts pane, User2's icon remains gray instead of turning green.

3) User1 does a split search. On User1's Contacts pane, a search query history entry appears only under User1's icon. Nothing appears under User2's icon. On User2's Contacts pane, a new history entry appears only under User1's icon, and nothing appears under User2's icon.

4) When User2 does a split search, a new query history entry appears for both users on both computers, but User2's icon on User1's computer remains gray.

5) The Chat window works correctly in both directions.

Do you have any idea what might be causing this problem? As I mentioned, it's intermittent and I can't see any pattern. I'm suspecting I might have configured something wrong with Live, but I don't know what it might be.

Add Users

I am knew the the Search Together and have succesfully downloaded IE7, signed in on Search Together, posted a view sites, and invitied myself to join Search Together; however, I cannot figure out how to add other email addresses that I know that would like to join search together. When I Add USERS the only thing that comes up is my email address and below is a blank tab where you can Add Contacts however, whenever you click nothing happens. Can anyone help me? BO SMITH

Hi,

I want to try Together Search. Then I install it in my browser without problem (I have to install the supplement library like explian here : http://research.microsoft.com/searchtogether/tutorial.html).

But I do'nt succeed to connect me. I always have this message :

"Unable to sign. Please ensure that your username and password are correct and the network connection available."

Ther is no probleme with the internet connection and i have a hotmail adress (anf i'm sure of my password)

I have only a hotmail adress. Is it enough or must I have anything else ? (windows live ID - windows live) ?

SearchTogether, an IE7 plugin that enables collaboration on Web search, is now available for public download!

SearchTogether can benefit any group of people who are interested in investigating a topic together, such as students working on a group report, colleagues working on a joint project, or friends planning a shared vacation or other social activities.
