After downloading ASCOM and noting that the "installed" notice appeared, I tried to check if telescope worked by clicking on the "Choose" button
The following message was sent instead of the selection images that WWT says should be gotten
"Error ' - 2147220416 (80040440)' execution time Failed to open / create root registry key (5)"

This is a known issue with ASCOM 5.0 and 64 bit Windows.
A new platform, ASCOM 5.5, should be available very shortly (weeks perhaps) which should address the 64 bit issues. I believe a release candidate version of this software is available through various Ascom talk groups, or you could wait for the main site to be updated.
