File > New, or simply drag and drop onto the client area

> it always says: error 0x80004005

What did you do to make it say that? It obviously doesn't "Always" say that.

>anyhelp?

You've supplied no useful diagnostic details e.g.

- program version

- Windows version

- number, type and size of images

- steps carried out

It's confusing when people write upload ( usually to a website ) rather than open ( a file in a program ).

If you read the FAQ links you can see how to use the command line to stitch with ICE. Uploading the finished image to your website is a completely separate affair that does not need to be handled by ICE.

I have just installed ICE and when I drag two jpegs into the client area I get an error code 0x80004005. The two images are 48.8kbs and I am using XP and V 1.2 of ICE. It goes so far and stops at 'Matching source images' and I get the error message saying that it is 'unable to stitch together any of the source images'. I have tried various images but get the same result. Is there something I should set before doing my first stitch?

Make sure there is sufficient overlapping area between the pictures for ICE to work on. Your images seem very small too.

Well, the two images (A4s) are only very simple line drawings, with no colour, just black lines, and they appear to be good flat image scans, two jpeg scans of an A3 sheet, which I want to recreate. I don't see the two images in the window, and it starts without giving me a chance to alter any settings. Is this usual? There are seven lines that need to be joined to make the complete A3 stitch up. Is this enough. Is there any way I can take more control of the program?.... and what does error 0x8004005 indicate the problem might be?

Thanks
