Hi,

I was using the Demo AutoCollage 1.0 with no problems at all.

Since I purchased AutoCollage 1.1 I discovered a lot of problems with AutoCollage, after some time of using it, spending minutes (!) at 100% CPU doing something. I reported this by e-mail with no conclusion. So I kept shutting the program down after I create a collage and restart it.

Since some time I occasionally get a bluescreen with 'infinite loop' with nv4_disp driver. MS message after recovery: Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)

I updated to the latest Nvidia drivers which made it even worse. So I went back to the old driver. I am using NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT at 2560x1600 resolution. Driver version NVIDIA 6.14.11.9038. WinXp SP3 regularly updated.

I use dozens of programs on my PC and none has ever showed this problem. The bluescreen only appears with AutoCollage 1.1. This is why I think it might be a problem in AutoCollage.

Any advise on how to avoid this?

Thanks

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

I looked back at your original e-mails and did some research on the error message you have reported here. As you may have noted, the MSDN article recommends considering driver upgrades and then possibly replacing the graphics card.

After some searching I found the following threads which relate to your problem:

Both of these indicate that the GeForce 8x00 series of cards has many issues with 3D graphics. We use some 3D graphics in our application. Recommendations on these sites include checking your RAM for faulty units, getting specific NVidia driver versions and asking NVidia to replace your card.

Our tests against XP SP3 for AutoCollage 2008 v1.1 have shown no issues with either CPU, memory, graphics card or the latest drivers.

Thanks,
Chris.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the advise.

I followed your suggestions and RAM is OK, and after I invested in a new Nvidia 9x card the bluescreen is gone. The 'AC hangs for minutes' issue is still here, but shows up much later than previously. I will keep on searching about the problem. If I find the culprit I will post again.

Thanks again

Andreas
