With Jpeg Output the Programm works very well.

What version of Windows are you running.  My first guess is that you do not have the Windows Imaging Component (WIC) installed - which is part of Vista and included in XP Service Pack 3.  You can also install WIC directly from here:

32bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=8E011506-6307-445B-B950-215DEF45DDD8&displaylang=en

64 bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=F64654AC-6E26-41D9-A90A-0E7783B864EE&displaylang=en

 Matt:

I am having a similar problem.  I tried the suggested download, but it indicates that a more recent version already exist.
jpg and tif work fine.  but not HD Tiles.  have tried from 25 to 100% with 13 portrait images 10MP each, in a single cylinder.

I tried reinstalling the 1.2 rel 1, but the same thing happens.  When I last tried using this, back in December, it seemed
to be working.

 Any Suggestions?

 Thank you

Gary

To help me debug:

Does it return an error code?

Does the Deep Zoom option work?

 Matt:

PopUp is:

######################################

 Application Error

Microsoft ICE failed in output processing.

######################################

No error code returned

Behaves exactly the same for both Deep Zoom Tileset and  HD View Tileset.

Progress moves along after about 20 seconds and then with pauses along the
way, untill the progress bar is as shown here:

######################################

             Saving Panorama Image...

   |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

 ######################################

Then, a disk write usually occurs for about  5 seconds, followed b the error
pop-up, with the disk write continuing for about 5 more seconds.

The on-screen stitch looks perfect, but it will not save, regardless of
Camera Motion or scale setting.

Is there someway to start the program so as to turn on additional debugging?

Thanks

Gary

The progress stops at the "e" of Image

Sorry that this is happening.

Does this happen with all images or just a particular set?

Does anything get written to the output destination (partial set of tiles, xml, html)?

Is your disk nearly full?

 Matt:

The disk of the working directory has  75.9 of 141 GB.  The system disk has 65.5 of 232 GB.
I was initially able to form a couple of HDs, but now can not.  All image sets produce the same
results.  I have placed a sample set of images at SAMPLE IMAGES,
I have included the empty directories that are sometime created, with varying numbers.

I have tried jpg settings from 25, 40, 80, 100 and all scale settings.  Same thing happens

Thanks

 Gary

Matt:

Did I fall of the RADAR?  Haven't heard anything since the 6th.  Still cannot compete an HD stitch, only jpg
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing and repair installing in addition to everything above.  Is there something I am missing?
Is there something else I should send you?

Thanks

Gary

Sorry Gary.  I'm not sure what to try next.  I just downloaded your sample and was able to create a Deep Zoom web page.

One shot in the dark is to delete the ICE options.xml from the following directory.  I guess it's possible that it got corrupted.  Another thing to try is to re-install ICE.

XP> C:\Documents and Settings\[user-name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft ICE

Vista> C:\Users\[user-name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft ICE

Mattu:

This is so frustrating.  I was so impressed with ICE that I had intended to use it to generate a large
collection of panoramas for my public service website The Dunbar Creek Project, but alas, it no longer
works. AHHHHH!

I have tried reinstalling several times.  I tried your suggestion of removing  options.xml, I tried editing
options.xml to different directories.  For the last re-install, I removed the program and then even
removed all registry references to the program with regedit.exe.  Following that, I re-installed with
a freshly downloaded file and even ran windows-update an extra time, as suggested.  Still no
luck.  I did however get a change.  The progress bar moves to almost complete and then I get:

Application Error: Microsoft ICE failed in output processing

Nothing showing up in any of the Event Logs.  I am stumped.

Is there a way to turn on a verbosity switch?

Which version of Windows are you running?

I am running Windows XP Professional, with the latest updates available installed.
One strange thing is that when I look at System Properties, it says Version 2002
Service Pack 2, even though I am sure that 3 has been installed, and of course,
it must be, or the updates would not be able to run or be current, which they are.

AMD Athlon 64X2 Core Processor 4200+ 2.21 GHz, 3.00GB of  RAM, Physical Address Extension

There aren't any additional diagnostics in that part of the processing.  Since you say that this problem happens for every project that you try, I think that it is an issue with image-io or with your particular system and not with tickling a rare bug in the ICE engine.

The image-io component that we use is called WIC and is mentioned at the top of this thread.   You can try removing and re-installing that

First uninstall it by running (notice this is for XP users only):

%windir%\$NtUninstallWIC$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

Then re-install from:

32bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=8E011506-6307-445B-B950-215DEF45DDD8&displaylang=en

64 bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=F64654AC-6E26-41D9-A90A-0E7783B864EE&displaylang=en

note that 32bit or 64bit depends on which version of XP you have and not on the type of processor.  You can determine if you are runnning 32bit or 64bit by following these instructions http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/groups/ivm/ICE/osbits.htm
