With "view from this location" checked under "Settings", try moving the horizon line down so the sky fills the window. Whenever I do this, I get the message dialog: "WorldWide Telescope has stopped working..." and the program quits when I dismiss the dialog.

Also make sure you have the most recent video card drivers from your computer or video card manufacturer.
