 Full screen or reduced works the same for me. There are never any star images on the screen as there are with my laptop.

Very odd. I'll try installing directx10 but Windows Update reports all software up to date.

Still had some issues with other images (panorama views).

But if I clicked on the arrow underneath the images of collections (My collection, Constellations..., .., Named stars)  this would half the screen but would display the images...

I'm very excited to see this project - thanks to all involved!

Having a problem with object images though.  Very similar to what bufy describes.  Most images don't work once I'm zoomed in.  I can't see anything in tours.  As I zoom in on planets or solar system objects, there are graphics problems that involve "holes" in the object that constantly change and move around as the object moves on the screen.

Screen shot here (example is the Sun).  You can see a sunspot or two in between the "holes"...

Hi, I am having the same problem, the screen is all black except for the constellation lines. I think its because nothing ever came up allowing me to download the .NET 2.0 or dircetx 10. Can anyone explain what else I can do

OK after alot of fidling and looking through these issue i have noticed that it does not like high res/size monitors I have a 2 20" monitors doesnt work on either so i tried reducing the size of the window as stated above. This works fin untill you get to a certin size then either the images dont show or flicker, I am unsure if this is to do with the program trying to stretch the images to the larger size or if it is the graphics drivers. I have updated all my graphics drives. Side note i have IE8 installed so i dont know if this is related. Might help the microsoft clan in fixing this issue.

 Same problem here: no images at all (just the constellation lines).

 No images for the sky, no images for the earth, or panorama... nothing: just a black screen.

 I have XP sp2, just I dont know if I have directx10...

Mine isn't working either. I have tried all the options above and it still doesn't work. Only a black screen, overlays, and constallation lines appear. THERES absolutely NOTHING on IT.

A common thread to us with this image (or lack of image) problem seems to be Windows XP. If DirectX 10 is in fact required, it is reported to only work for Vista. Us XPers may be out of luck.

I don't believe it is Internet issue. I've found that images are being downloaded fine.

Cache folder  c:\Documents and Settings\MYACCOUNT\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WorldWideTelescope\Imagery\  has a lot of folders such as 134741791, 25145512, 7391555 with none-empty png anf jpg files which I can view. All files are 256x256.  

I see screen like this.

 

Also tried to re-install DirectX 9.0c, change resolution of Screen, tried different options in WWT Settings. No result.

Waiting your response. WWT sounds like great tool but we are stuck to start working with it.

I have the exact same issue, with white background and wire-frames only. I'm not behind a proxy, I tried to disable firewall, I am connected to the Internet. Using Win XP Prof SP3.

I had the same problem, but I (by chance) found that it only occured during full screen window mode. Running the application in "windowed" mode solved the problem.

Your solution worked for me. I'm running at 1680 x 1050 on a widescreen monitor and window mode seems to overcome the issue.
