sorry for the interruption but i have no idea how to open WWT.exe.config.  the computer is asking me what to open the file with?? thank you

Well,
A proxy is a program that handles, in that case, the hht request and answer them sending a cached page or asking that page for the webserver, storing it and sending it bakc to you.
To find out which one to use ask the network administrator of where you work/study. Some ISP also provide such service for their user so contacting them may be an option if you're at home.

If you can browse internet you can check your browser settings:

On IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan Settings and check what is there.

well there is no address given but a port is specified:port 80

Then no proxy set. Just to be sure. Is the checkbox "Use a proxy server..." checked?

it was not checked earlier but i checked it,. well i really didnt know whether "use a proxy server " was supposed to be checked or not ,is it supposed to be checked or is it supposed to be blank??

when i leave it blank,WWT gives me no error message........that means i am connected right?

If you have it checked you must have a valid proxy address and port informed, otherwise leave unchecked. If wwt gives you no message, then let's suppose it's working. Just use it, if you get images from astronomic objects then it's working otherwise no and for some reason failed to give you an error message.

yup i do get images.....and i am able to run guided tours so i am connected?

If by images you means color images then looks like you are!
