Scaleable Characters and Objects

Next patch will let you scale all kinds of things in the world. Mark's been cranking this out and making sure that it works well with physics and the like.

Tiny motorcyles are really, really cute :)

This patch will probably land in early September - it won't be as big as the last patch but we hope to have a few small surprises in there for you.

UPDATE: Scaling for this version is something you do while editing. You can't control scale through Kode. Yet.

Will we be able to say "when A button is pressed, do grow?"

I don't want to answer for the devs, but it seems like this is something that would be set by changing each object's settings, such as you do for their speed, glow strength, etc.

Of course, you could always make it so when you press a, the current character vanishes, and you create a larger one.

Oh gosh...how did I not notice "Change Size", lol. Either way, size will probably be an attribute that won't be changeable through us koding.

Of course I could be wrong. But that just seems like it'd be difficult to do.

If we make things small will it take up less space on the theremometer?

Nice, but ;) will you add Avatars also? KODU is XNA project so it should be easy ;)

Is the scaling going to be in intervals, with like maybe 2-4 higher/lower sizes? ( like this img11.imageshack.us/.../sizey.png )  Or will we have free control of it?

I actually think intervals would be better. Because if not, it might be really hard to get other characters to be scaled at the same size.

Or you could have numbers similar to the health bar in the tweak screen then it would be pretty easy to get things the same size.

Oh man, you guys are awesome! I think you guys have made the best service for the $5.

If possible I would like to make a request for a feature.

When: "I get hit" by [character/object/missile selection]

Do: Normal Selection Wheel

What is the limit on how big and small you can make things. Is that motercyle as small as it can get?

@orthonormal : I've added a bug to our database for this.  Thanks.

@twintwine : The current scaling ranges are 0.2 up to 4.0.

Will we see an update soon that will somehow allow us in some way to create larger games, either through just the normal things taking less resources, or alternate ways to make a game in which to take up less resources, im obsessed with game making, and have used several programs since 2001 for game making, Kodu is the only one i've seen for 360 thats easy to do, XNA is rather hard as i only have beginner knowledge of C#, adding a basic programming language would be a really nice addition, it would mean we could do practically anything in Kodu, but it probably would require an extensive amount of work to be able to create your own basic language.

Hope to see more updates for this soon.

P.S i've wondered if it would be possible to let Kodu run whilst not connected to XBL, i know XNA indie games cant generally do this, i just wondered why not, as its annoying because i go on holiday half way through september, which means i wont have time to check out the new patch if it comes out on like the 9th to 11th.
