kodu

patch is in playtest, more fixes incoming, here's a new desktop

Brian's just going nuts on the cool desktops. I've been out sick *cough* *cough*

Late-breaking stuff coming in the patch is much, much tighter control of character movement. We mean it. :)

I can't wait for the patch. I enjoyed Kodu for the first couple of days but once I heard about the patch I thought I'd just lay off it till it arrived.

Keep up the good work!

Does that include strafing and backwards movement? :D

I really like this one . . . I can put it on my work computer and it looks like a technical spec, not a game.

Are there any other of Brian's wallpapers, besides what you've posted?

Strafing and backwards movment would be awsome, another addition i would love to see is a charcter with an aiming reticule that could be moved with the right stick much like a modern fps movment works so we could make better shooters.

sorry, we're still strafing- and reticule-free. :( if sales stay decent, we'll be able to keep updating, and we've got *lots* more in the pipeline...

I notice you didn't mention backwards movement there.

I'd love to be able to map the left trigger as reverse and the right as forward like most racing games.

Just glad to hear the reticul and strafing are a posibility.

With ghosting you can make a pretty decent reticule btw; Just tell your character to hold a ghosted, black, minimum brightness light.

Can't wait Matt. Great work so far. I'd love to be able to do the command chain "When eat ___, do ___".

online!?Lol but seriously mattmac,is it possible to add in multiplayer?Ill accept a no if it comes down to it :P

danjohnson: when you eat something, you should also get a "got" event. so:

bump - rock : eat

got - rock : boom

sophist: networked multiplayer is a big, big change, so it'll be a while before we even attempt. it may be more of a 2.0-scale feature rather than the 1.01 kind of stuff we'll be focused on for while.

I'm not saying there definitely will be a 2.0 - that decision will emerge over time based on sales and overall community activity.

I hope you got my message mattmac, I don't know if they get sent straight to you but I was just trying to help the Kodu effort I want to see this project grow and expand more than anything else.

looking forward to the patch. so far i am really enjoying kodu. A few hours of playing around with it made me wish it was a bit more expansive. more characters, actions, items, etc. I really hope this sells well so we can get regular updates and add-ons.

Adding to the above, i think it would be a great idea to have two "tool" sections. One for beginners (what kodu provides now) and another for advanced (current kodu plus more of everything). Kodu has a chance to turn into something really amazing if it evolves correctly. I hope for the best, good job devs!

p.s. microsoft needs to advertise this thing more. especially on the 360 dashboard. i never look through the community games, but luckily i did today otherwise i never would've known about this.

I'm looking forward to the patch too, better movement controls and 12 pages will probably let me finish the game I started.

A lot of people seem to want this as an arcade game, if nothing else it would let you bypass the 150MB size limit. Maybe for KODU version 2?

I saw an exception, when I started sharing session:

The character 'П' (0x041f) is n

in

Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics.SpriteFont.GetIndexForCharacter(Char character)

in

Microsoft.Framework.Xna.Graphics.SpriteFont.InternalMeasure(StringProxy& text)

in

Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics.SpriteFont.MeasureString(String text)

in Boku.UI2D.UIG

I think it because I'm from Russia and have friends with russian letters somewhere (0x041f - russian character 'П'.
