A Look at the Load Screen

This is where you go to load up worlds. We had to make it capable of dealing with tons and tons of files, so you have this gigantic list that scrolls left and right. We put the files into "buckets" (these are across the top) for the major categories. There's another layer of categorization in the filter menu ("show".) This gives you a bunch of tags for different genres so you can keep your creations organized.

The blue arrow on the big tile shows you that this world is marked for sharing. This means that when you enter a sharing session other folks will be able to download this level from you. More on sharing later...

So is that tag line at the bottom customizable for each game world?

For example:

"X defends, A attacks. Y jumps - have fun!"

Thanks again. :)

Great news that it wont be long before this shows up on the xbox! Do you know if it is going to be free?

Nope, we'll charge something for it. Community games range from 200 - 800 points, so it won't require a mortgage.

Yes, the tag line is customizable per game. There are built-in graphics for a bunch of key phrases: if you type <cycle> you'll get the graphic for the cycle character, if you type <ls> you'll get the left stick icon.

I appreciate that you are still teaching some level of coding with the <format> you mentioned.

Sounds like a good deal, thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought it was talked about being free when announced but it's so cheap it is practically free :D

Looking forwards to it.

More posts like this please. :)

And less random screenshots that don't reveal to us any news. :P

Wow, the load screen looks great (as do the sample games), and I can't wait to hear about sharing.  I hope it's really robust because there should be a ton of content very quickly!  I am a big fan and I have been waiting my whole life for a system like Kodu (wanting to program games, and having tons of ideas, but not having the time!)  I am so glad that MS has invested in this.

Thanks!

... and I am so glad to see the "samples" and "lessons" sections, because I forsee that I will have many  questions on how to make more complex behaviors work!  I hope that the team will provide a lot of examples like the "Implementing Invulnerability" post on June 1st for us.

Thanks again. :)

I've been excited for this for a while, and I'm now even more excited for the rest of this month! I have vacation, the new iPod Touch 3.0 Update, and to cap it all off, Kodu! Me can't waits...
