The little browser

Today I was riding home on our commuter bus [known around here as the Connector] catching up on RSS feeds. It's like a modern equivalent of leaving Penn Station for Long Island, with the afternoon Post edition to read. Anyway, I'm flipping through RSS items, stop at the Building 43 story. Clicking on the link takes me from my RSS reader to the Building 43 site. So what. Yes and not yes. Landing on the site feels less like a 'site' and more like a native application on the mobile device I'm using. This made me think: am I browsing a site, or using an app? There is a big difference between the two, from user expectation to design and engineering. I'll try to upload sketches later. gracias, frank
